Furniture: An early 19th century Pennsylvania Sheraton cherry high-post rope bed with tester. The bed has four high round-turned and tapered bed posts having baluster-ring and ball turnings, the posts terminating in ball-like feet with short tapered pegs below fitted with iron and wooden casters. Each post is surmounted by an acorn-shaped finial with a metal pin extending from the top to hold the tester in place. The posts are connected by heavy square rails with rope holes and are secured in place by large iron bolts. The posts are fitted with hinged stamped brass bolt covers. The head end is fitted with a wide plank-shaped headboard having rounded top corners and out-rounded sides, the sides of the headboard are mortised into the sides of their respective bed posts....[more information available via subscription]
