Francois Gaultier Polichinelle Walking doll, France, circa 1890, pressed bisque flange head, blue paperweight glass eyes, finely painted brows and lashes, closed mouth, pierced ears, gray wool wig, jointed arms and legs with bisque hands. Punch-style torso contains clockwork mechanism. Wearing satin two-tone costume with metallic trim and velvet shoes, holding later German bisque-head child with five-piece composition body and dressed as a cook.
