John Wilson, the leading academic authority on the work of the artist, currently the director of the Timken Museum of Art in San Diego, has confirmed by phone the opinion he expressed in his letter of authenticity to Barridoff Galleries of March 24, 2005 when he was curator of paintings and sculpture at the cincinnati Art Museum. Mr. Wilson, whose work includes Edward H. Potthast ("dossier" exhibition of works in the museum's collection, five watercolors never before exhibited and with eight oil paintings), October 1994 to March 1995, Cincinnati Art Museum and Edward Henry Potthast: American Impressionist, exhibition catalogue, essay and chronology, Gerald Peters Gallery, New York, 1998....[more information available via subscription]
