A very rare and unusual Napoleonic prisoner-of-war bone model of a Baltimore Clipper made by an American sailor at Dartmoor prison during the War of 1812. This is the only known prisoner-of-war bone ship model made by an American prisoner at Dartmoor. Of plank construction with rigging and flags, the deck fitted with cannons, hatch covers and anchor. Raised on a superbly made straw work platform bordered by a scalloped bone gallery with carved posts. In a glass and wood case.
