An important and rare large Confederate Bowie Knife marked on scabbard "WORN BY W.T. SHERMAN OF THE GREENE ROUGH & READY'S," with tin scabbard, circa 1861. The massive double-edged spear-tip blade with heavy oval steel crossguard, and circular steel pommel. The single-piece grip of cherry, slipped over tang (and secured by pommel); carved with initials WTS on one flat. The tin scabbard with belt loop; old paper label on front with ink inscription: "Worn by W.T. Sherman of the Greene Rough & Ready's".
