A fine and rare carved basswood jumper carousel horse, Marcus Charles Illions, Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York, circa 1907, with florid mane and tail, and jeweled trappings.

A wonderful example of a smaller middle row horse carved in the Brooklyn shop of Marcus Illions and sons. Illions was known for creating a sense of motion with each of his horses and this figure is a wonderful example of that ability, with a wind twirled mane and at full gallop. ...[more information available via subscription]
